Shipping Policy

The Book Shop (KitaabKharido) ships across India via registered courier partners. We strive to deliver your books safely and on time, every time.

Overview

We currently ship to all serviceable pincodes across India. Whether you're in Delhi or a remote town, we work with our courier partners to get your order to you as quickly as possible.

  • Free delivery on all orders above ₹499.
  • Cash on Delivery (COD) available on most pincodes.
  • Orders are shipped Monday to Saturday (excluding public holidays).
  • Tracking details shared via SMS/WhatsApp once dispatched.

Order Processing

All orders are processed within 1–2 working days of payment confirmation (for prepaid orders) or order placement (for COD orders).

  • Orders placed before 2:00 PM on a working day are typically dispatched the same day.
  • Orders placed after 2:00 PM or on weekends/holidays are dispatched the next working day.
  • You will receive a dispatch confirmation with tracking details once your order is shipped.

Note: Processing time may be longer during peak periods (exam season, year-end) or for custom/special-order books. We'll keep you updated via WhatsApp.

These are estimated timelines and not guaranteed delivery dates. Actual delivery may vary based on courier partner performance, weather and other factors.

COD charges: An additional ₹30–₹50 COD handling fee may apply on Cash on Delivery orders, depending on the order value and pincode. This will be shown clearly at checkout.

Shipping charges for return orders: If the return is due to a defective or wrong item, we bear the return shipping cost. For other returns, a flat return shipping fee will apply (see our Return & Refund Policy).

Cash on Delivery (COD)

We offer Cash on Delivery on most serviceable pincodes across India. COD availability is shown at checkout based on your delivery address.

  • COD is available on orders up to ₹3,000. For higher-value orders, prepaid payment is required.
  • Please keep the exact amount ready at the time of delivery to avoid inconvenience.
  • Refusing a COD delivery without a valid reason may result in your account being flagged for future COD orders.
  • If you are unavailable at the time of delivery, the courier will attempt re-delivery up to 2 times.

Order Tracking

Once your order is dispatched, you will receive a tracking number via SMS and/or WhatsApp. You can use this number to track your shipment on our courier partner's website.

  • Tracking updates may take up to 12–24 hours to reflect after dispatch.
  • For tracking assistance, WhatsApp us at +91 9310262701 with your order number.
  • You can also check your order status by logging into your KitaabKharido account under "My Orders".

Failed Delivery

If a delivery attempt fails:

  • Our courier partner will attempt re-delivery up to 2 times on subsequent days.
  • If delivery fails after 2 attempts, the package will be returned to our warehouse.
  • In case of a failed delivery due to an incorrect address or customer unavailability, re-shipping charges will apply.
  • For COD orders returned to us due to failed delivery, re-shipping will require prepaid payment.

Please ensure your phone number is reachable, as our delivery partners typically call before arriving.

Address Accuracy

Please ensure the delivery address you provide at checkout is complete and accurate, including:

  • House / flat number, building name and street address.
  • City, state and correct pincode.
  • An active mobile number for delivery coordination.

We are not responsible for delays or failed deliveries caused by incorrect or incomplete addresses. Address changes after dispatch may not always be possible — please contact us immediately if you need to update your address.

Delays & Exceptions

While we aim to deliver within the estimated timelines, certain situations are outside our control:

  • Natural disasters, strikes or extreme weather conditions.
  • Public holidays or festive season backlogs at courier facilities.
  • Government restrictions or lockdowns affecting transport.
  • Remote areas with limited courier network coverage.

In case of significant delays, our team will proactively reach out to you via WhatsApp or phone. You can also contact us at any time for an update.

Peak season notice: During exam season (March–May, October–November), order volumes are higher and delivery timelines may be slightly extended. We recommend ordering early during these periods.
